SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALLERGIC AND SUSCEPTIBLE CUSTOMERS

HOW TO PAINT SAFELY

One of the core aims at Tikkurila is to continuously improve the safety of paint products during product development, raw material selection, and paint manufacturing. Matt Joker paint is setting new standards for product safety and has surpassed the strictest M1 emission classification levels many times over. Joker also contains high-quality acrylate binding agents, which ensure excellent adhesion and durability.

When using paint products, allergic and hypersensitive consumers should however always take precautions and follow the recommendations described below.

Painting is enjoyable and risk-free when you follow these instructions:

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PACKAGE

Always ensure that there is sufficient air ventilation during painting and paint drying. Do not live in premises undergoing renovation. The use of good-quality painting tools is important for achieving a good finish and reusing the tools. They also help to reduce excessive paint splashing.

PROTECT YOURSELF

Before painting, cover floor space and other areas to prevent paint splashing. Use protective gloves to protect your hands from splashing and other unnecessary contact with paint. Like other water-borne paints, Joker contains preservatives that may induce allergic reactions in hypersensitive users. Wash any paint from your skin with soap and water.

Use protective glasses to prevent any risk of splashing and eye damage when painting roofs, for example. If paint is splashed into the eyes, thoroughly rinse them out at once with plenty of water.

When spray painting, always use a partial facemask equipped with at least gas and particle filters. Long-term inhalation of paint spray mist may irritate the respiratory organs. Use protective clothing and protect the eyes in particular. Spray mist may cause eye irritation and dry skin in hypersensitive users. If you are potentially allergic to paint components, apply the paint preferably with a brush or roller, and use a respirator if necessary.

PRACTICAL SAFETY INFORMATION

In accordance with EU legislation, Tikkurila Product Safety has drawn up warning texts for paint product packaging labels, safety and use instructions for product specifications, and safety and use bulletins. These contain detailed information on potentially hazardous product components and their characteristics.

Joker paint contains water, binding agents, pigments, fillers, and additives. The amount of raw materials in each product depends on the base paint. White Type A base paint contains more titanium dioxide (white pigment) and fewer fillers (dolomite, talc) than Type C base paint, which the retailer uses to tint stronger colour shades.

Joker paint contains:
