Description
Quick-drying urethane alkyd lacquer for use on interior and exterior wooden surfaces. Available in colourless and many other attractive colours.
Examples of use
Windows, doors, floors, etc., and above waterline on boats. Unica Super Lacquer can be used on surfaces previously coated with alkyd or acid catalysed lacquers.

Colour Range
Tikkurila Lacquer Color Card, Semi transparent Colour Card.
NOTE: Make a trial application on a small area to ensure that the colour is correct. If the colour is too dark, add colourless Unica Super or White Spirit 1050.
Specifications
Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, all loose material and surface contamination. Completely remove existing coatings that are in poor condition. Use recommended Tikkurila products as cleaning agents and suitable Tikkurila or other good quality wood fillers for filling cracks, joints, nail holes, blemishes, etc. Ensure that all glossy and filled surfaces are thoroughly flatted down. Always prime bare exterior wooden surfaces with Valtti Base prior to the application of Unica Super Lacquer.
Application
Methods: brush or spray.
For airless spray: use a 0.009” – 0.013” (0.230 – 0.330mm) spray tip, and thin by up to 40% with white spirit.
Thinning: by up to 40% with white spirit.
Painting Conditions
All surfaces to be painted must be dry, the moisture content of the wood below 20%, the temperature of the air at least +5OC, and the relative humidity of the air below 80%.
Painting
Stir thoroughly before use. Apply lacquer by brush or spray. On bare wooden surfaces use 2-3 coats of Unica Super Lacquer thinned by 20-40% with White Spirit 1050 as priming lacquer. For exterior situations use Valtti Base priming oil and Unica Super GLOSS Lacquer as priming lacquer. Apply one or two finishing coats of Unica Super Lacquer thinned by 0-20% with White Spirit. On previously lacquered or varnished surfaces apply one or two coats of Unica Super Lacquer unthinned. Sand lightly between coats.
Coverage
12-14 m2/litre per coat. Actual spreading rates will depend upon many factors including texture, porosity, moisture content and application methods.
Drying Times
At 23C and 50% relative humidity of the air: normally touch-dry in 6 hours and recoatable after 24 hours. Avoid hard stress (abrasion, etc.) to the surface during the first two weeks after application.
Cleaning of Tools
Clean tools immediately after use with white spirit.
Environmental
Empty cans should be recycled or disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Liquid waste should be destroyed according to the local regulations.
Health and Safety Classification
Contains: Naphtha, hydro-treated heavy. FLAMMABLE. Use only in well-ventilated areas. Do not breathe vapour/spray. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label. Keep out of the reach of children. Contains methylethylketoxime and cobalt octoate. May produce an allergic reaction. A Material Safety Data Sheet is available on request.
