Description
Universal special alkyd enamel paint for use on interior and exterior wood, metal, fiberglass and plastic substrates.
Examples of use
Doors, windows, furniture, machines, signboards, etc., and above waterline on boats. Unica Semi-Gloss Enamel can be used for repainting surfaces previously coated with alkyd or acid catalysed paints.

Colour Range
Tikkurila Miranol/Unica, most colours from Tikkurila Professional and Façade Colour Collections, plus most of the British Standard, RAL and NCS NCS-S Liquid Imagination and Fauvism 55 Colour Ranges.
Specifications
Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, rust, all loose material and surface contamination. Use recommended Tikkurila products for mould removal and cleaning. Treat knots and resinous areas with Tikkurila Knotting Lacquer. Use suitable Tikkurila fillers for filling cracks, nail holes, blemishes, etc. Ensure that existing glossy, gloss painted and filled surfaces are thoroughly flatted down. Due to the various qualities of plastic the effect of solvent and adhesion of the paint should be tested prior to painting the whole surface.
Priming
Prime new bare wood overall and if necessary spot prime all bare areas on previously painted wood with Otex Adhesion Primer or Oljypohja wood primer.
Prime all bare metal and potential rust spots with Rostex Super Metal Primer.
Application
Methods: brush, short pile roller or spray.
For airless spray: use a 0.009” – 0.013” (0.230 – 0.330mm) spray tip and thin by up to 20% with Spray Thinner 1032.
For conventional spray: use a 1.4mm – 1.8mm fluid nozzle and thin by up to 35% with Spray Thinner 1032 (DIN 18-25 s).
Note: When applying Unica Semi-Gloss Enamel by spray the dry paint film should not exceed 40µm.
Painting Conditions
All surfaces to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5OC, and the relative humidity of the air below 80%.
Painting
Stir the paint thoroughly and apply one or two coats of Unica Semi-Gloss Enamel depending upon the condition of the substrate and possible colour change. Always apply two coats onto bare plastic substrates and surfaces which have only been primed.
Coverage
10-12m2/litre per coat for smooth wooden surfaces. 12-14m2/litre per coat for metal and plastic surfaces. Wet-film thickness approximately 70-80 µm per coat, dry film approximately 35-40µm per coat.
The above should only be used as a guide as actual spreading rates will depend upon many factors including texture, porosity and method of application.
Drying Times
At 23OC and 50% relative humidity of the air: normally touch-dry after
7½ hours and recoatable after 16 hours. Low temperatures and high humidity will make drying times longer.
Cleaning of Tools
Clean tools immediately after use with white spirit.
Environmental
Empty cans should be recycled or disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Liquid waste should be destroyed according to the local regulations for hazardous waste.
Health and Safety Classification
Contains: Naphtha (hydrodesulfurized heavy), and methylethylketoxime.
Flammable. Harmful to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. May produce an allergic reaction.
