Instructions
Painting conditions
The surface to be painted must be dry. During treatment and drying the temperature of the air, surface and product must be at least +5 º C and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %. The relative humidity of the air, temperature and wind speed have a strong impact in drying time. If the surface painted with Panssari Akva dries too quickly , can the application time be extended slightly by thinning the paint with water by 5-10 %. Excessive thinning and painting under unfavorable conditions may cause sagging of the paint. Plan the work so that the paint surface has enough time to dry before dewfall. Do not paint if the risk of rain is imminent.
Preparation
Previously painted surfaces:
Remove possible rust (to St2 degree) and remove loose coating/paint with a scraper and wire brush. Clean the surface with Panssaripesu Roof Cleaning Agent from dirt, grease, oil, wax etc. according to instructions. Use brush on chalky and dirty surfaces. Rinse the surfaces with pressure washer, preferably with warm water. Prime bare metal areas with Rostex Super Metal Primer.
Unpainted zinc-coated, steel and aluminium surfaces:
Paint new zinc-coated surfaces at the earliest the following year after the installation. Remove possible rust (to St2 degree) by scraping and wire-brushing. Remove possible white rust by brushing or sanding. Remove dirt, water soluble salts, grease and oil from the surface with Panssaripesu Roof Cleaning Agent and brush. Rinse carefully with water and allow to dry. Roughen the aluminium surfaces before painting. Prime the zinc-coated metal surfaces and roughened aluminium and steel surfaces with 1 coat of Rostex Super.
Coil-coated surfaces (PVC, PURAL, PVDF, Polyester, Acrylic):
Define the type, condition and adhesion of the original surface. Check also the possibility of maintenance and need for a separate primer. Further information from the Guide for Roof Painting, data sheet or Internet. Roof profile surfaces are recommended to be painted by spraying.
Painting
Paint the dry, well cleaned and primed (if needed) surface with Panssari Akva 1-2 times, depending on appearance. The recommended dry-film thickness is 50-80 μm. Pay attention in choosing the correct brush. Recommendation: Tikkurila roof paint brush T6.
Maintenance painting: Surface painted with Panssari Akva can be recoated with Panssari Akva.
Cleaning of Tools
Clean tools with water. Remove hardened paint with Tikkurila Tool Cleaner.
Cleaning instructions
After 1 month the surface can be cleaned with Huoltopesu Maintenance Cleaner (mixing ratio: 1 part of Huoltopesu to 10 parts of water). Clean soiled surfaces and stains with a stronger Huoltopesu solution (1:1). Rinse the surface carefully after maintenance and let it dry.
