Specifications

Method: spray application, but a brush or roller may be used on small surfaces. The softened paint film is removed with a steel scraper or water jet, for example. Carry out a test on a small area first to see the effect on the old paint finish and substrate.

Application

Cover plastic parts and other surfaces which are not being treated to protect them from splashes with the stripper. Wipe off any splashes immediately, using water.

Pour Paint Stripper onto small surfaces and apply freely with a brush, roller or spatula onto the area to be stripped. Especially in dry and sunny or in windy weather, cover the surface with transparent cling film, construction plastic or similar to prevent the stripper from evaporating.

Spray Paint Stripper onto large surfaces. It may be sprayed straight out of the original packaging. Nozzle size 0.021” or larger. Wear gloves and protective goggles during spray application. Important: if the stripper begins to ”slide” during application, spray on a thin coat and leave for a few minutes, after which you can continue spraying normally.

The time taken for Paint Stripper to take effect and its effectiveness are affected by the type and coat thickness of the paint and the weather conditions. Wrapping in plastic speeds up the process. Avoid working in direct sunlight or high winds.

If the waste is in liquid form or if there is a lot of it, take it to a municipal hazardous waste collection point. Wash the surface carefully with hot water and a brush or rough sponge; a water jet may also be used for stripping jobs done in the open air. Leave the surface to dry thoroughly before any repainting. Also remove any superficial rust that has formed on a clean steel surface before painting it.

If paint is to be removed from a fairly large surface (e.g., metal roofing), check the local authority’s regulations on paint stripping and waste disposal before starting the work. In most cases, it will also be necessary to determine the type of the paint removed and any substances (such as heavy metals) it may contain which are harmful from the viewpoint of work safety or the environment. In larger paint stripping jobs, it is recommended to carry out a test on a trial patch during the planning stage to determine the effect time and coverage of the Paint Stripper.

Coverage

0.5 - 1 m2/l depending on the number, quality and type of the layers of paint to be removed.

Effect time

2-8 hrs. The time for Paint Stripper to take effect depends on the type of paint to be removed and the number and thickness of the paint films.
