Description
High performance, extended durability, semi-gloss or semi-matt, low-odour, mould resistant waterborne acrylate latex finishing paint for use on interior walls and ceilings. Particularly suitable for humid rooms and areas which require frequent washing down with strong detergents and disinfectants.
Examples of use
Plaster, concrete, brick, building block and boards, MDF etc. Luja can also be used on primed wood, metal, and for repainting interior surfaces previously coated with waterborne, alkyd or acid catalysed paints.

Colour range
Available in white, the complete Tikkurila Professional and Façade Colour Ranges, plus most of the British Standard, RAL and NCS, NCS-S, Liquid Imagination and Fauvism 55 Colour Ranges. Note: Colour shades will not fully develop until the paint is completely dry.
Fire resistance
Tested in accordance with the methods specified in BS 476:Part 6:1989 "Method of Test for Fire Propagation of Products" and BS 476:Part 7:1987 "Surface Spread of Flame Tests for Materials". Luja Finishing Paint is non-combustible and will give Class O rating on non-combustible substrates as defined in approved document B to the Building Regulations 1991.
Specifications
Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, rust, all loose material and surface contamination. Use recommended Tikkurila products as cleaning agents and for mould removal. Use recommended Tikkurila fillers for filling cracks, nail holes, blemishes, etc and levelling of uneven surfaces. Ensure that existing glossy, gloss painted and filled surfaces are thoroughly flatted down. Ensure that all surfaces are thoroughly prepared.
Priming
Prime unpainted wall and ceiling surfaces overall and spot prime all bare areas on previously painted walls and ceilings with Luja Universal Primer.Prime all bare wood with Pito Wood Primer and bare metal surfaces with Rostex Super Metal Primer.In areas of high humidity walls and ceilings should be primed with Luja Moisture Stop prior to the application of Luja Universal Primer and Luja.
Application
Methods: brush, roller or spray application. For airless spray: use a 0.015" - 0.021" spray tip. Thinning: if necessary thin by up to 5% with water.
Painting conditions
All surfaces must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5OC, and the relative humidity of the air below 80%.
Painting
Stir the paint thoroughly and apply two coats of Luja overall.
Coverage
7-10 m2/l per coat. Wet-film thickness approximately 100-200 µm per coat, dry-film approximately 50-80 µm per coat. The above should be used as a guide, as actual spreading rates will depend upon many factors including texture, porosity and moisture content of the substrate.
Drying times
At 23 deg. C and 50% relative humidity of the air: normally touch-dry in two hours and recoatable after four hours. Final hardness will be achieved after 2-3 days. Low temperature and high humidity will make drying times longer.
Cleaning of tools
Clean with water immediately after use.
Prevent environmental damage
Empty cans should be recycled or disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Liquid waste should be destroyed according to the local regulations for hazardous waste.
Health and safety classification
according to EC Directive 99/45/EC
Not classified as hazardous to health. Handle with care, avoid prolonged contact with skin and breathing of spray mist. A material safety data sheet is available on request.
