Dyce Academy required a complete masonry coating upgrade in order to bring it into line with a 10-15 year maintenance cycle.

The project consisted of all render areas seen painted in black or grey. The existing render coating was in poor condition and had become chalky, we were asked to provide assistance in order to resolve the problem and provide a durable waterborne system.

VALTTI Finngard primer S was used to re bind the surface before 2 coats of Finngard Opaque were applied to the masonry surfaces. The colour choice on this structure was also a factor at specification stage as our client had chosen black.

Black is not normally seen on exterior facade projects due to the fading that the colour can suffer from before the actual breakdown of the product. The Opaque system however is formulated to facilitate the application of very dark colours such as black so we were able to provide the client with exactly what they wanted.

Products used:

  • VALTTI Finngard primer S
  • VALTTI Finngard Opaque colour M168
