Castlemilk swimming pool, on the south side of Glasgow was in need of a durable solution for a chlorine and water-stained ceiling.

Valtti was asked to advise on this project because of the unique nature of the wall and ceiling materials.

The presence of movement cracks coupled with the massive surface area of the ceiling provided an extra challenge during the production of the specification by our consultants.

Valtti Akrostop was used to insulate the ceiling and prevent restaining prior to the application of the Luja wet room system.

Since completion of painting in mid 2007 the results are still looking impressive.

The increased durability of the Luja system and its ability to self regulate in a high humidity environment means only minor maintenance if any will be required over the next 10 to 15 years.

The repainting project coupled with the other aspects of the site refurbishment means the pool will be in a great position to service the community reliably for the foreseeable future.

After the refurbishment is complete in August 2008 the pool will be a much-improved place for its users.

The paint on the walls is a small factor in monetary terms but the aesthetic benefit to the people using the pool is huge.
